The Rural Life Centre is open from March 6th. until November 3rd., Wednesday to Sunday plus Bank Holiday Mondays from 10am to 5pm.
During the winter months the museum is open on Wednesdays and Sundays only between 11am and 4pm.
(Last admission is always one hour before closing time.)

SHEEP will be at the museum during most of the main open season.
The OLD KILN LIGHT RAILWAY operates every Sunday during the main open season.
The museum is able to offer a wide variety of craft courses. Subjects include basket making, wood turning, blacksmithing, rag rugging, leatherwork, willow weaving, smock making and many more. If you are interested in joining in with one (or more) of these please contact us with your email address and preferences and we will let you know when the next course becomes available.
On April 4/11, May 30, July 25, August 1/8/15/22/29 and October 31. Join in with FREE demonstrations and workshops. Also Step Back Together family activities around the museum at other times.
On the first Sunday of every month during our main season - 7th. April, 5th. May, 2nd. June, 7th. July, 4th. August, 1st. September and 6th. October, from 8am to 12pm. Entrance to the car boot sale is free to buyers. If you are interested in having a stall or demonstrating a craft, please contact the museum.
The April 7th. car boot sales will also feature a special Crank Up machinery sale and engine demonstration from 9am to 12pm.
March 6th to May 6th - This exhibition, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Farnham Institute Charity, Waverley Borough and Surrey County Councils, explores the dramatic landscape between Aldershot and Hale created by the digging of gravel for the building of the military estate in the 1850s. The migrant workers built and lived in their own shanty township on the heath.
March 30th - Hundreds of working miniature steam engines return to the museum. Demonstrate your working model and come in free (admits one only).
March 31st & April 1st - Easter Chick Hunt around the museum for families and children, plus a decorated egg (Sunday) and Easter bonnet (Monday) competition.
April 27th & 28th - Wildlife and countryside groups plus crafts, with the emphasis on wood working - cleaving, turning, carving and more.
May 4th - The Old Kiln Light Railway hosts a variety of layouts, of many different scales and periods.
May 11th and 12th - Our wartime re-enactors transform the museum with the sights, sounds and smells of a wartime village 'somewhere in England' as D-Day approaches and the troops prepare for the impending invasion. Come along and experience 1940s' life.

June 1st & 2nd - The Central Southern Vintage Agricultural Club hosts a return of this popular rally. Steam to stationary engines and crafts to animals will be on show.

June 16th - Based on the novel The Broom-Squire written by Sabine Baring-Gould (who also wrote 'Onward Christian Soldiers'), this play dramatises his story which starts with the infamous murder of the sailor on Hindhead in 1786.
The action quickly turns to follow the fortunes of the sailor's orphaned daughter, found in the Devil's Punch Bowl by the Broomsquire, and you are transported into the rustic world of pre-Victorian commoners.
Truly 'into' because during this performance, actors and audience will mingle freely.
After 18 years, the finder and the foundling marry. But the circumstances and results of this union lead to a clash of wills - and more.
It is a tale which naturalist David Bellamy calls his 'firm favourite'.
Written by local historian and playwright John Owen Smith, this is a play for all the family to enjoy. (Different prices apply for this event.)

June 29th and 30th - A family event with a taste of Romany life. Look inside a traditional wagon, enjoy the music and dancing. Find out about the heritage of Romany Gypsies in Surrey.
June 29th - An evening concert with this winner of the BBC Folk Awards recalling country life in the Victorian era. Many will have seen John singing on "The Victorian Farm" TV series. Booking is essential - please telephone for details. (Different prices apply for this event.)
July 13th and 14th - Engines of all sizes and ages dating back to the early 1900s, many demonstrating the type of jobs they would have carried out during their working lives on farms and in factories.
July 28th - See our special page for details of this great, annual family day out - country crafts, country musicians and the ambience of a vanished way of life, plus a market selling local produce. This year we celebrate 150 years since the birth or rural chronicler George Sturt with a smock parade and exhibition (exhibition continues until September 29th).
August 4th - Consuls, Zephyrs and Zodiacs will be on display including Farnham Estates converted locally at Abbott's factory in Wrecclesham. Everyone welcome, if you have a classic why not bring it along and join in the fun. Trophy for Best Visitor Classic.
August 10th and 11th - The Central Southern Vintage Agricultural Club rally returns with Ferguson and Massey-Ferguson as this year's themed manufacturer. But there will still be plenty of red tractors too...
August 18th - A special day for children to experience the atmosphere of a fete and Sunday School Treat of old. Come as a family to join in the fun with old fashioned games and pastimes.
August 30th and 31st, September 1st - This internationally renowned music festival returns for a family-friendly weekend. There will be something for everyone with music and craft stalls, The KidZone, Sci-Fi zone, excellent food and real ale plus, of course, superb music from a wide variety of bands.

September 8th - Come along and meet the Donkey Breed Society with their gentle beasts of burden demonstrating how they have served mankind throughout history.
September 8th - Farnham Beekeepers will be holding their annual honey show in the museum's village hall.
September 15th - Surrey Classic Vehicle Club will be back with a wide assortment of vehicles ranging from bikes to buses. Last year saw around 500 taking part.
September 29th - A special day to mark the end of the farming year and the 40th anniversary of the opening of the museum. There will be a harvest service in the Eashing chapel and activities around the museum including an Autumn show open to all.
October 13th - Land Rovers from pre-production through Series I to III, Discovery, Range Rover, Defenders, military and 'specials' are all included in our special day. Land Rover themed autojumble and machinery sale.
